StormBase provides and displays weather and forecasted product information from public NOAA/NWS data sources into one central location. The app is designed to help you quickly access important weather products while keeping your experience simple and reliable.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

A. Information stored on your device

StormBase stores app settings and cached content locally on your device, including:

• App preferences (for example: appearance, layout, refresh behavior)
• Favorites and UI customization
• Recently fetched weather product data and HTTP metadata (for caching and efficient refresh)

This local data is stored using iOS local storage mechanisms and is not readable by the developer (for example, UserDefaults and URL cache).

B. Data fetched from third-party/public weather providers

The app requests weather and imagery content from public data providers, including NOAA/NWS/NCEP/SWPC/SPC/WPC/CPC and certain NASA/NOAA-related endpoints. Standard network metadata (such as IP address and request headers) is handled by those services as part of normal internet communication.

2. What We Do Not Collect for Profiling

• StormBase does not use in-app advertising SDKs.
• StormBase does not use analytics SDKs for behavior profiling.
• StormBase does not sell your personal information.

3. How We Use Information

StormBase uses information to:

• Display weather products and imagery
• Keep content current through refresh and caching
• Apply your preferences and favorites
• Maintain reliability and app functionality

4. Sharing of Information

StormBase forwards data fetch requests only as needed to operate the app:

• With weather/public data providers (NOAA/NWS) when requesting weather products.

StormBase does not share information with data brokers for marketing profiling.

5. Data Retention

• Local app data remains on your device until you clear it, uninstall the app, or iOS removes cached data.
• Some cached product data is automatically refreshed and aged out by app logic.

6. Your Choices

You can:

• Clear downloaded image cache from app settings.
• Uninstall the app to remove local app data.

8. Security

StormBase uses standard platform networking and storage APIs. We take reasonable steps to reduce any risks.

10. Changes to This Policy

There may be updates to this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date.
